Safe hot water from a sustainable energy installation

Starting point
In Kruisbergflat in IJmuiden there are 144 apartments which are connected to city district heating. The original building was constructed in 60s and all the apartments had gas boilers for hot domestic water.

Together with project managers of Velsen, we have uninstalled all old gas boilers and replaced with a modern central hot domestic water system. This system was powered by solar tubes. During the replacement, bathrooms were also renovated in order to install thermostat-faucets in the showers for more comfortable use of the showers. All residents were connected to individual meters and charged for the hot water they use individually.
